The INDUS-X Summit, held on September 9-10, 2024, in California, marked a significant step forward in enhancing defense innovation collaboration between India and the U.S. The event, organized by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and Stanford University, concluded with a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) and the Defence Innovation Unit (DIU) of the U.S. Department of Defense.

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in defense innovation and facilitate partnerships among industry, research institutions, and investors. Key highlights of the summit included the announcement of a new challenge under INDUS-X, the release of the INDUS-X Impact Report, and the launch of the INDUS-X webpage.

The summit provided a platform for showcasing next-generation technologies and fostered discussions on future tech trends, startup capacity building, funding opportunities, and defense supply chain improvements. The event was attended by a diverse group of experts from defense, investment, startups, academia, and policymaking sectors from both nations.

Joint Secretary (Defence Industries Promotion) Sh. Amit Satija emphasized the commitment of both countries to advancing defense technology through innovation and strategic collaboration. The INDUS-X initiative, which started during the Prime Minister’s visit to the U.S. in June 2023, has achieved notable milestones and continues to promote defense technology innovation.
