PM Gati Shakti: Transforming India’s Infrastructure and Connectivity
On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘PM Gati Shakti’ initiative during his address from the Red Fort. The National Master Plan for Multi-modal Connectivity, launched on October 13, 2021, will soon celebrate its third anniversary.
This digital platform is designed to integrate various Ministries, including Railways and Roadways, to ensure cohesive planning and coordinated execution of infrastructure projects. The initiative aims to enhance seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods, and services across diverse transportation modes, thereby improving last-mile connectivity and reducing travel times.
PM Gati Shakti encompasses infrastructure schemes from various Ministries and State Governments, including Bharatmala (road development), Sagarmala (port modernization), inland waterways, dry ports, and UDAN (regional air connectivity). By facilitating better infrastructure planning and execution, the initiative seeks to foster economic growth and improve the quality of life for citizens across the nation.
